It has to be strong! So, how do you get strength? Firstly, strength is about the correct choice of timber and more importantly the correct choice of span. What is span? Span is the full extent of distance from end to end or the amount of space a joist floats between bearers. The Timber Framing Code of Australia states that a MGP10 140 x 45 H3 Treated Pine joist can span 1500 - 1800 mm.

Colorbonds or AusDeks Insulated Panels are probably one of the best building materials some one can purchase. They span an incredible distance. The smallest 50 mm thick sheet spans 5 meters. And the largest 125 mm thick sheet spans a massive 6 and 1/2 meters from beam to beam. Other than massive span.

More accurately decking boards need to be oiled annually. That's it! Once a year. Easy right!? But unfortunately a lot of the time this just gets missed.
