Questions
Which is more cost-effective: blinds or shutters?
Blinds are generally more affordable upfront, while shutters offer longer durability. Material and installation complexity affect costs, with synthetic blinds being economical and custom shutters providing lasting value.
Do shutters keep heat out better than blinds?
Yes, shutters provide superior insulation due to solid construction and sealed barriers. They block heat more effectively than blinds, which have gaps between slats, improving energy efficiency in Brisbane's climate.
What are the main differences between shutters and blinds?
Shutters are solid panels offering better insulation and durability, while blinds have adjustable slats for light control. Shutters enhance architectural aesthetics, whereas blinds provide versatile, budget-friendly options with varied materials.
What are the most popular colours for blinds and shutters?
White and neutral tones like beige and grey are popular for their versatility. Wood stains and black options are chosen for traditional or modern aesthetics, complementing Brisbane homes' exterior and interior designs.
Do houses look better with shutters or blinds?
Shutters add classic elegance, suiting traditional homes, while blinds offer modern flexibility. The choice depends on architectural style and personal preference, with both options enhancing curb appeal when customised appropriately.

Our blinds were installed by the FKR team a few months ago and Im very happy to say the whole experience was first class. The owner Frankie showed up on time to prepare a quote, gave us a full run down on the options available, and had a very competitive quote. The blinds we got installed were the Zip Screens, and they are awesome for keeping the western sun off our deck in the afternoon - they also help keep the whole house cooler as the timber deck doesnt heat up and transfer heat inside the house. I cant recommend Frankie and his team highly enough, I just wish all companies treated
